Urban Intelligence Partners with Ordnance Survey
The partnership will help our efforts to collect development plan data from organisations and authorities across the UK, for inclusion into a revolutionary product that will make it possible for the property sector, government and others to view development plan information across local boundaries, in one place, for the very first time.
Urban Intelligence founder, Daniel Mohamed, said that: “OS is the geographical standard for the property and legal industries, and so we could not imagine building any mapping products for these sectors with any other data. This partnership is just the latest example of the close relationship Urban Intelligence has with this fantastic British institution.”
“We are no strangers to OS. We have been kindly supported by their Geovation team based at the Urban Innovation Centre since August 2015. We have also been working with OS to develop a new set of licensing arrangements that will make it easier for members of the Public Sector Mapping Agreement to release their information in line with objectives of the open data movement.”
Ordnance Survey’s Geovation Hub in Clerkenwell, London has become a UK centre for geospatial innovation. Urban Intelligence is one of several technology startups–such as Land Insight, Podaris and Flock–based at the Geovation Hub, a community that is seeking to use location data to disrupt incumbent practices. With the new partnership and continued base at Geovation Hub, Urban Intelligence hopes to build tools that become the new industry standard, as are OS’ products with Britain’s mapping.
